The Black Metropolis Research Consortium was selected as one of 200 libraries nationwide to receive an award from the American Library Association’s American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries.
The group is currently gathering data to better understand the racialized experience in UChicago classrooms and identify opportunities for positive change.
The organization is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and advocating for graduate students from backgrounds historically marginalized and underrepresented in the BSD and PSD.
The prize awards $1,000 to the best BA essay submitted on any topic at the intersection of race, structural racism, and human rights in the United States or globally.
