You likely will have to get involved with your parents' finances as they age. However, if you wait to talk with them about their finances until an emergency forces you to get involved, it can be too late. Cameron Huddleston, author of Mom and Dad, We Need to Talk, will explain why these essential conversations need to happen sooner rather than later. She'll share several ways to start money talks with your parents, what information to gather, and what to do if your parents are reluctant to talk. She'll also share tips on talking to siblings and planning for the roles you'll plan in your parents' financial lives as they age. Huddleston is an author and award-winning personal finance journalist, whowas a caregiver for 12 years for her mom, who had Alzheimer's disease.
This event is part of the parenting educational series hosted by UChicago Parent Employee and Student Resource Group.
