Diversity Dialogues are designed to bring together individuals from the University to learn about and act upon issues related to diversity and inclusion. This session, titled Practicing Faith in a Pluralistic World, will feature Rev. Dr. Maurice Charles, Dean of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel.
As a university chaplain, Charles has supported religion and spirituality in secular universities while being available in times of crisis and celebration to every member of the community, including those averse to religion. This conversation will explore the question of how people with radically different truth claims can engage one another with curiosity, compassion, and integrity. Attendees will consider how a pluralistic community can honor an important dimension of experience and identity for so many while maintaining a commitment to thoughtful conversation and lively debate.
