Subject: Updated Diversity & Inclusion Planning Toolkit

I write to share an updated version of the Diversity & Inclusion Planning Toolkit. This toolkit was created as a resource to help leaders advance diversity and inclusion in their units. It has been updated with new strategies focused on racial bias and eliminating racism. All units on campus are encouraged to create a diversity and inclusion plan. While the toolkit offers a number of recommendations, it is meant to be versatile, and units are encouraged to customize the activities to make them relevant for their local context. UChicago defines diversity broadly and aims to enable all members of the campus to participate fully in the life of the campus.

The Office of the Provost is committed to supporting leaders as they undergo this process and offers multiple opportunities to share information and resources. Please contact our office should you have questions about diversity and inclusion planning, and share your final plans with us as outlined in the toolkit so we can keep track of related activities happening across campus. Additionally, we will host a series of meet-ups and group coaching sessions during the Spring Quarter to walk people through the toolkit and answer questions about the planning process.

We will continue enhancing and expanding the toolkit in order to make it a sustainable resource. Additional tools are available on the Diversity & Inclusion website. Please share the toolkit with other faculty and staff engaged in diversity and inclusion planning within your unit. Thank you for your continued support in helping to cultivate a more diverse and inclusive campus community
